Sight
This 6” x 8” oil on panel started as another technique study, but stumbled into being something more. An accidental wiping out of the eyes during the sketch phase led to me rethinking what the painting could be. The absence of a thing (in this case the eyes) becomes a meditation on the thing that is missing, on sight as a sense connecting us to the world.
This painting is also the first oil piece I’ve done of a wolf, rather than a coyote, as I begin to learn more about them.
You can find a more detailed description of the technical process for this painting on the original Patreon post for it.
The original painting has sold, but regular luster prints are available in the store, and it looks especially striking as a white aluminum print! Remember to join my Patreon if you’d like first chance at new originals like this in the future.
